California Desert Couple Session | Imperial, CA

I grew up in the desert of Southern California, in the Imperial Valley. While visiting my family over Christmas, I snuck in a session with my friends Jade and Santi.

Growing up, I didn’t always love living in the desert, where it can hit 120 degrees in the summer and the scenery far from what most consider beautiful.

As I got older, I came to the realization that beauty can look like a lot of different things. Beauty is not just green. It doesn’t always look like a lush forest or waterfalls or plentiful wildlife.

I wanted to capture the desert in a way that amplified it in its simple, muted, understated beauty.
